15/08/2011

Not the most exciting of shots, but it does show the rails still in place on Anchor Lane, Barcombe.

15/08/2011

Barcombe Station on the Bluebell line. This Station spent many years after closure in a very derelict condition, its quite amazing it survived, it wouldn't today, as a block of flats would take its place.

15/08/2011

Plumpton looking towards Lewes, a lovely period piece. I think there are plans to replace the gates but local residents are objecting.

15/08/2011

Plumpton Racecourse Platform.

15/08/2011

Plumpton Station would have been a good place to listen to the Brighton Atlantics coming up from Lewes on the Newhaven boat trains, though I dont think they would have matched Standard 5, 73096 when she came up the bank a few years ago, with 10 plus a class 37 in tow, she was making around 60mph by the time she was eased for Keymer Junction, the sound form the first coach was impressive to say the least!

15/08/2011

Newhaven Town Box with the replacement river crossing behind.

15/08/2011

15/08/2011

The Eastern approach to the original swing bridge at Newhaven, once used by road and rail. On the left is a green and cream hut, not sure if this was used to collect Tolls or for operation of the bridge.

15/08/2011

Newhaven Harbour, the line to the left is for Seaford and straight on is the short branch to Newhaven Marine, the remains of the Station is behind the Box.

15/08/2011

Newhaven Harbour Station. The main building I think was used for many years as a clubroom for the local Model Railway Society.

17/08/2011

View of the K&E,S,R Junction at Roberstbridge. The Rother Valley Railway have relaid part of the formation, on an even sharper curve into the former goods yard, where they have set up camp. Really is a Hornby Doublo curve!

16/10/2011

While in the area a quick visit to view the rather functional viaduct at Shoreham over the River Adur.
